Hi There

We spent Christmas visiting Ammas Ashram in Kerala India, which is where GreenFriends was born!

Amritapuri is situated on a tropical penninsula with the ocean on one side and a beautiful backwater river on the other.

While at the Ashram, my wife Val and I , alongside Shalila ( author of GetGrowing ) taught GetGrowing to a very nice group from all around the world .. Cananda, Austria, Germany, Holland, USA, France, UK.  It was very inspiring to see a group of people who are so enthusiastic to learn how to grow their own food organically!

2014-12-28 16.04.09We taught the course at the Tulsi House, which has beautiful gardens filled with Flowers Fruit Herbs and Trees, and is currently undergoing a transformation into a Permaculture Food Forest Garden.

The course concluded with a few special additions… these included….a talk with Peter Ash  on composting/soil/permaculture/compost tea and a quick tour of the Ashrams compost facility, a tour of the Ashrams amazing Worm Compost facility, a tour of the Rudraksha Farm, and a inspiring tour by Nikila of the permaculture/food-forest/herbal garden. Nikila’s garden suffers from water shortages, so she has a big focus on having a water-conservation-garden , one technique she was using  hugelkultur beds!

A big thanks to all who helped us run this course .. looking foward to he next one in Ireland.
